From the book jacket:

A major collection of short stories from a glittering talented writer. Fay Weldon's work cannot be categorized as 'literary' or 'commercial': it is both, and much more besides.

Mothers and children, lovers and wives, carers and betrayers. Some characters struggle; some dance or fly; some try suicide or murder. They may resort of reason or unreason (wrestle those apart if you can). All of them make choices.

In 'Subject to Diary', Oriole Green, successful and forty, waits in a clinic for an abortion. She doesn't have time for a baby. Perhaps this is her last chance; perhaps she will refuse it.

In 'Pumpkin Pie', Antoinette slaves over someone else's hot stove while her family spends Thanksgiving without her. The poor work hard to the rich can eat well - what law of life could seem simpler?

And in a series of tales from the age of psychotherapy, four women in turn talk to the silent analyst: one who refuses to listen to her buried conscience; one whose envious twin prevents her from being wholly happy; one who has murdered her husband in the interested of her children; one whose cat is suffering from depression…

Deft, spare, and incisively intelligent, shot through with Fay Weldon's needling moral sense and vibrant humour, Moon Over Minneapolis is a deliciously challenging read.
